I Want to be a Cowboy!

That's right, this is Cowboy.  He recently joined us here at the Sanctuary and we are so happy he did!  This huge black Lab is not only 110 years old, but is blind and both of the ligaments in his knees are torn.  Unfortunately these are such old injuries that they cannot be repaired but we will manage them.  We had the tumors removed from his right eye for comfort but the cataracts that blind him remain.  We aspire to be just like this dog because with all his ailments, he smiles all day long and his tail does not stop wagging.....

THEY ARE HERE!

We are happy to introduce to you Jack and Frosty, the boys from Boise.  They are 3 1/2 month old standard Australian Shepherds.  They already weigh 18.5 pounds and are happy, healthy, playful pups!  Jack (has the color over his left eye) is both visually (microphthalmia) and hearing impaired, while Frosty (mostly white) is deaf.  They have already started with obedience training and are working on their socialization skills.  They will be ready for adoption soon, and remember it is never to soon to meet one of them and get the adoption process started!  They are getting along great with all of the other dogs at the sanctuary too!

New Arrivals Coming Soon!

We were contacted last week from a fellow rescuer in Boise, Idaho looking for someone to take two lethal white Australian Shepherds pups.  We agreed to bring them to the sanctuary and are very excited to meet the boys from Boise this Thursday, February 16th.  We will update the pictures and let you know more about them as we get to know them.  They will of course be trained and looking for their own families in the near future.  Which one would you like to meet?

Jan. 11th is a sad day for us.  We lost Asa today, our beautiful 14 yr old German Shepherd.  He went peacefully, crossing the Rainbow Bridge to join other lost members of our family.  Our hearts are broken and I weep as I write this as he has been such a huge part of our lives for over a decade.  Truly a gentle giant with a heart like no other.....  You are already missed and forever loved big guy.....
So very happy you were in our lives.....

Filbert our mini doxie (the little nut) recently had his right eye removed.  We would like to say thank you to The Nelson's for the gift they made towards his surgery.  It is special people like The Nelson's who help make what we do possible.....

Double J would also like to thank all of our donors for giving during the Holiday Season.  During these tough economic times, we certainly recognize that sometimes personal sacrifices are made to help us take care of the dogs.  Thank you for choosing to support us.

Please take a look at our adoptions page.  Finding new homes has proved challenging through the holiday's so we're gearing up for a new year filled with wonderful new homes for our adorable adoptables.....

Take a look at a couple of new faces!  Introducing Miss Macy J from St. Maries, Idaho.  She was 5 weeks old when she joined our sanctuary family.  Thank you to our friends at Hope's Haven in St. Maries for rescuing her, the mother and litter mates and taking such good care of them!  Proud to work with this organization!  Macy is blind in her left eye, and seeing better out of her right eye everyday.  She is also hearing impaired.  What a sweetheart.....

Oh my, what have we here.....  Not really sure what our little Aussie, Scooter Girl is mixed with but who cares?  Have you ever seen such an adorable, funny face.  This bundle of energy joined us from SoCal.  Our friends at Pal Rescue were instrumental in rescuing her, loving her and getting her on an airplane to join us in Idaho.  She is deaf and visually impaired and a bundle of love.
